A fascinating new report ranks Faisalabad as the most business-friendly city in Pakistan, followed by Multan (2nd) and Lahore (3rd). Pakistan's largest commercial metropolis, Karachi, comes out at 9th place in a list of 13 cities in Pakistan. Towel industry in Pakistan

According to TMA (Towel Manufacturers' Association of Pakistan), there are about 5,000 looms installed in the terry sector. Out of 5,000 looms, 4000 are in the organized sector and 1000 in the unorganized sector. Most of the units are equipped with old imported Japanese looms or modified local machines. Average capacity utilization is about 65-70 per cent. The main reason for low capacity utilizations is the use of old age machinery. It is estimated that bout 80 per cent of the looms installed are over 12 years of age. Therefore, present machinery installed in the industry needs balancing, modernization and replacement with automatic machinery.
